A softphone is a desktop app you download that lets you use your computer to make and receive phone calls. It’s easy to set up and includes all the features of a traditional office phone. As long as you have a strong internet connection, you’re good to go.

 

2. Do I have to use a softphone?

No, you can always use the free UniTel Voice mobile app to make and receive calls using your smartphone, or you may simply forward your calls to any of your existing phone lines (cell phone, landline, or other telephone numbers).

 

3. How much does a softphone cost?

We offer four business phone system plans but only the UniTel Voice Office plan includes the ability to use softphones and IP-phones.

The UniTel Voice Office plan includes up to 5 users for $49 per month and every user has the option to use our mobile app, softphone, IP-phone, or all three devices.

If you would like to add more users you can do so for just $9.99 per month per user. There is no limit to how many users you can add.

As for choosing a softphone, UniTel Voice offers a simple easy-to-use softphone compatible with both Mac and Windows free for every user on the Office Plan.

However, if you require more robust features we recommend the Bria softphone from CounterPath which works with your UniTel Voice service on the Office plan.

5. How do I order a softphone?

During the setup process, you have the opportunity to let us know if you’d like to add a softphone to your account, and instructions will be emailed to you. You can add IP-phones and/or softphones to your UniTel Voice service at any time.
